👋 Introduction: Why Term 2 is Your Power-Up Phase

Welcome to Term 2—a crucial period where your child moves from building foundations to practicing with purpose. This is the time to:

  • Tackle tricky topics with more depth 💡
  • Practice time management through short timed tasks ⏱️
  • Reflect more deeply using the Mistake Journal
  • Involve parents not just as homework checkers—but as learning coaches 👨‍👩‍👧

We’ve designed a 10-week weekly plan that’s structured, manageable, and most importantly—encourages independent thinking with just the right amount of support.


🗓️ Weekly Breakdown: Term 2 (Apr–Jun)


🔹 Week 1 (Apr 1–7)

Math: Fractions – Add & Subtract
➤ Use bar models from MOE SLS portal or draw your own
English: Synthesis & Transformation
➤ Combine: “He was late. He missed the bus.” → “He was late because he missed the bus.”
Science: Plant Reproduction
➤ Label and colour a flower diagram; explain pollination

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent Tip: Ask your child to teach you how a flower makes seeds. Teaching builds mastery.


🔹 Week 2 (Apr 8–14)

Math: Multiplying Fractions
➤ Use grid paper or draw “part of a part” squares
English: Vocabulary – Context Clues
➤ Quizlet.com – search “PSLE Vocabulary Sets” for ready flashcards
Science: Water Cycle
➤ Build a mini water cycle in a clear container (plastic wrap, warm water, ice)

🧪 Hands-on: Observe condensation and evaporation in your DIY system!


🔹 Week 3 (Apr 15–21)

Math: Dividing Fractions
➤ Explain: ½ ÷ ¼ = ? (How many ¼s are in ½?)
English: Situational Writing – Emails
➤ Write an email to your teacher asking to join a CCA
Science: Adaptations
➤ Pair animals with environments: camel – desert, penguin – ice

📓 Mistake Journal Focus: “What mistake did I fix today? How did I fix it?”


🔹 Week 4 (Apr 22–28)

Math: Decimals – Understanding & Comparing
➤ Play “Decimal War” using price tags or pretend money
English: Comprehension (Open-Ended)
➤ Use practice books or MOE SLS passages
Science: Heat Transfer
➤ Use a spoon in hot water, feel heat move—conduction example

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent Tip: Ask, “What’s hotter—metal or wood? Why?” Let them explain.


🔹 Week 5 (Apr 29–May 5)

Math: Decimal Operations – 4 functions
➤ Real-life task: Add up grocery bills or convert money
English: Composition Planning
➤ Brainstorm 3 titles, plot main events, and draft 1 intro
Science: Circulatory System
➤ Label a heart diagram; trace blood flow with arrows

🔹 Week 6 (May 6–12)

Math: Percentage Basics – “Find value” questions
➤ Use real scenarios like 20% discount on a $50 item
English: Grammar & Editing

➤ Craft: Sequence food from mouth → stomach → intestines

English: Full Paper Practice
